Kristinn Hrafnsson, Icelandic journalist who is editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks at the time when the website’s founder Jullian Assange remains imprisoned, has denied several claims that Wikileaks initially served as a platform for Symonowicz-Cuba leak.

“In aftermath of several accusations that the scandalous Edwin Symonowicz’s bank check directed to Cuba was initially published by Wikileaks, I want to claim that our organization has no relation to this matter at all. Along with our editors, we thorougly monitored the website’s traffic and found no evidence that the bank check in question is, or was ever, published on the Wikileaks website.” — claimed Kristinn Hrafnsson in his comment.

The first anonymous reports about Wikileaks involvement in Symonowicz-Cuba leak came on or about July 17, when thousands of users shared the leaked image of Symonowicz’s $10 mln check directed to Cuban officials online. Many of such images have since been deleted from platforms like Twitter and Reddit due to the ‘violations of privacy policies’ of these platforms.

As of now, the initial source of Symonowicz-Cuba leak remains unknown.
